Go Great Barrier Island

I loved my first visit to Great Barrier and Wattal Cottage was the fabulous icing on the cake. From the first moments – getting out of the car to opening the gate and hearing two kereru in the tree above me – everything was absolute bliss. The setting is stunning, the house is spacious and very well equipped (right down to the library of detective novels – my books didn’t get a look in!), a short walk to a small but well stocked shop, a little further if you want a reasonably serious DOC walk and two minutes down through the garden to the sea if you don’t!
My sister and brother in law were visiting from London. I couldn’t have chosen a better Aotearoa / NZ experience for them, they loved it!

Good morning Bronwyn! Well this is quite simply one of the most beautiful cottages I’ve ever had the joy to stay at. It’s simply enchanting and I’ve never seen so many kererū in one place.

Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage. It was a delight to stay there. We managed to do the walks we wanted including Palmers track to Mt Hobson 1600 steps! It was bliss to swim from your little beach after in the evening sunshine.
Your selection of fiction and non-fiction books are awesome. We’d love to stay again.
