Sugarloaf Chalet

This rustic hideaway is located at the southern end of Kaitoke Beach, Great Barrier Islands longest ocean beach… 3 kms of pure white sand and blue sea. Nestled amongst the Macrocarpa trees, and only 100m from the beach, this Barrier retreat is made up of 2 buildings joined by a verandah with a BBQ and outdoor seating. The bedroom and ensuite toilet are in one room and the lounge and kitchen are in the other. A mosaiced bathroom is down a path behind the chalet.  Walk down the grassed frontage onto the beach and follow the estuary around to the ‘Mermaid Pool’ left exposed by the tide on a rocky outcrop at the very end of the beach.
The farmer owners live nearby and although the entrance to the chalet is typical of a working farm with tractors, trucks and farm machinery about; once you take the path to the chalet you find yourself in a very private and unique location.
