The Bach is located in an elevated and private position above Gooseberry Flat, Tryphena's most popular beach.
It has an all-round deck, outstanding views, a fabulous indoor-outdoor flow and provides easy access to the stunning beach across the road.
There are 2 bedrooms situated upstairs, one has a queen bed and the other has 2 singles... there's also a couple of mattresses for younger children.
You'll find a BBQ on the deck and a fireplace inside, with plenty of wood provided in case it gets cold.
There are mature Pohutukawa trees on the section and an abundance of cheeky Kaka parrots flying about.
It’s just a few minutes walk to the Stonewall Village where there is a cafe, general store, gift and postal outlet and the Currach Irish pub.

June 2020
We stayed in The Bach on The Barrier in June 2020, what a location, right on the doorstep to the beach and walking distance from the Irish pub and Stonewall Store, would love to come back in summer to enjoy the closeness of the beach and the opening doors on both sides of the house. Amazing views through Pohutukawa out to the ocean.
The Bach is very kiwi with all you need, the fireplace was a good send for us as we stayed in winter and kept the place very cosy, the board games and puzzles were also great for the day of bad weather we had.
The kitchen was great and had all we needed to make our meals.
We loved that the water was recycled under the house into a worm farm.
5 stars from us and we can’t wait to come back 🙂

February 2020

The bach is a charming little unit right at the heart of Tryphena. We found it to be the perfect base for exploring the south end of the island and it was so handy having our own walkway to the beach ! We also loved the sky windows in the bedrooms which made for perfect star gazing on a clear night.

Our stay was perfect. The family loved the Bach and the location, set up above the beach, close to the cafe, shop and pub. Loved the trees surrounding and track down to the beach, I would have my morning coffee sitting half way down enjoying the relaxing surroundings of birds and beach. the changing tides provided a varying playground for the kids to play in. Can only be 5 perfect stars. looking at a next trip now.
