This private sunny cottage was the home of the well known author and illustrator, William Owen.

Set on an elevated acreage, this open plan holiday cottage has an outstanding private position overlooking Okupu Bay and across to the Coromandel Peninsula.

The cottage sleeps 4 people in two double bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is a private sleepout adjoined to the main building by decks and verandahs (see photo). With lpg cooking and water heating, plenty of electricity and a woodburner to keep you warm through the cooler nights this self contained cottage has everything you need for a peaceful relaxing break.

Although this property is a little 'off the beaten track' it is only 15 minutes drive from the Claris airport and commercial centre. Here you'll find the general store, Cafe, bottle shop and fuel outlet. Be sure to check out the Kaitoke hot springs on the Whangaparapara Road and pop in for a burger and a beer at the local Claris Club.

The Okupu wharf is a short walk away and many a good keeper has been caught from there on a balmy evening.
If you are looking for a holiday away from the crowds and hustle and bustle, you won't do better than this.
